Description
The Historical Museum of the Grenadiers of Sardinia was designed by the Lieutenant Francesco Leoni and built by voluntary Grenadiers with the financial contribution of the Grenadiers throughout Italy. It was inaugurated at the presence of the reigning Savoy family on June 3 1924 on the 265th anniversary of the foundation of the Corps. The Museum is very rich in historical relics of every age and source. It consists of 15 halls containing Italian and foreign arms, photographs of the Great War, plans of the main places where the various detachments fought, flags and personal objects donated by the soldiers themselves. The Memorial to the Grenadiers has been set up in one of the halls. The 8500 names of the soldiers belonging to the Corps fallen in all the wars are listed on the walls of the Memorial.
