Description

During the 11th century the Christian Flemish community built a hospice for all the pilgrims and visitors who came to see the eternal city, as well as a chapel dedicated to S. Giuliano. In 1670 a church was built, and during 18th century it was enlarged. In 1870 the church and the hospice became a protectorate of the Belgian state. The hospice was later transformed into a Belgian college (now in Via Aurelia). The small facade, inserted during the construction of the hospice, has a small portal with a lion, symbol of Flanders. In a niche located in the upper part, is the statue of S. Giuliano. Thei nterior has an ellipsetic plan, the vaulted ceiling is decorated at its centre by a 18th century fresco depicting the glory of the saint.
