Description

Church presenting a Renaissance style, it was built in the early C. XVI. It was located in the Marmorata district, where the grandiose warehouses of antique Rome were located. The project was attributed both to Bramante and Antonio da Sangallo the Young. It was then restored by Borromini who modified its roof, installing a cross supported by a sphere decorated by roses. The interior embodies a fresco representing St John immersed in oil (according to the legend, in fact, the saint was immersed in boiling hot oil and miracolously got over it unharmed).
