Description

The church is accessible through a double ramp staircase built in 1924. It was erected with the convent of the Dominicans around 1575. Between 1628 and 1641 it was reconstructed and dedicated to S. Catherine, according to a project by Giovan Battista Soria. Later on, also Trajan’s market and the tower of the militia were annexed to the complex. The late sixteenth-century facade  presents two levels: on the first is a portico with three vaults; on the second is a large window between two niches, framed by a triangular gable. The interior, rich in seventeenth-and eighteenth -century decorations, has a single nave with three chapels on each side and a baroque dome.
