Description

The church was erected in 1499 by the Confratenita degli Osti e dei Barcaioli di Ripetta, founded by Pope Alexander VI.

The building was almost completely rebuilt in 1657 to a design by Giovanni Antonio de Rossi. The neoclassical façade renovated during the first half of the 19th century has a single order and is the work of Giuseppe Valadier. The interior has a single nave and has three chapels on each side interconnecting with each other.

Above the door is a beautiful 18th-century carved and gilded wooden chancel. Inside, there is a crib by Baldassarre Peruzzi, as well as splendid frescoes by Cesare Mariani and Giacomo Brandi.
