Description

The name of this church derives from the factories of bricks and ancient baked clay materials in the area. The primitive church dates back to the 15th century, but it was rebuilt at the end of the 17th century with designs by Francesco Multò; in 1720, Filippo Raguzzini added the façade, and it was not until 1950 that the bell tower was added in 18th-century style.

The interior has a single nave in the shape of a Greek cross, with two side altars and a central altar. On the latter is the venerated image of Our Lady of Graces, painted by Gilles Halet and crowned in 1956. The interior conserves other works by 18th-century painters such as Giovanni Battista Maini, Francesco Scaramucci, Francesco Fusi, Giuseppe Bartolomeo Chiari, and Pietro Bianchi.

The church is the parish seat and since 1985 has been the seat of the cardinal's title of 'Santa Maria delle Grazie alle Fornaci fuori Porta Cavalleggeri'.
