Description

The CNR (Italy's National Research Council) Central Library, established in 1927, is Italy's largest scientific and technical library.
It is the National Reference Centre for Italian grey literature publishers in the framework of both the EAGLE-SIGLE European programme and the NTIS (National Technical Information Service) grey literature activities.
It participates actively in the ISO-UNI technical standardisation activities. From 1991 to 2006 is EU Commission Depository Library. In 2006, it became an European Documentation Centres (EDC).
The catalogue currently available to students and researchers consists of over one million volumes (some 100,000 of which are old and rare scientific books), over 10,000 different periodicals, 5,000 of which on-line, including the 200 titles of the Pallottino Library and the 120 of the European Documentation Centres, plus 100 CDs and online databases.
Access to the G. Marconi Library is restricted to CNR staff, professors, university researchers, postgraduates attending PhD courses, authorised final-year undergraduates, civil servants and self-employed workers.
