Description

The Missionary Museum of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples, historically known as De Propaganda Fide, aims to present to the public the works, objects and narratives collected from all the missionary activities in the world from the day of its establishment, 22 June 1622, to the present day.
The visit of the Missionary Museum is divided between technological rooms and rooms typically used for the exhibition of paintings and objects, all following audio-guide narrations that highlight the peculiarities.
Among the many works and objects in the museum, the three collections in the Borgia Room and the Missionary Room stand out. These are: the Borgia Collection, left by Cardinal Stefano Borgia and comprising a series of antiquities from all the missions around the world; the Cuarterón Collection, works donated to Propaganda Fide by the missionary Carlos Cuarterón that describe the places he explored; and the Japanese Collection, belonging to St Peter's College, which depicts scenes of real Japanese life.

The visit includes the use of audio guides available in Italian, English, French, Spanish and German. There is no charge as the equipment is included in the cost of the ticket.

At the entrance to the museum, the staff offer a cloakroom service completely free of charge, as it is not possible to bring bulky or sharp objects such as: medium and large bags, backpacks of all kinds and umbrellas, as well as video capture devices such as video cameras or cameras, when visiting the rooms.
