Description
In 1988 during the construction of a shopping centre in the modern Fidene district, some ruins were found, poles and parts of walls, still well kept, of a hut dated back to the 9th century BC. The structure, which is the only evidence of the ancient "fidenate" population, was excavated between 1991 and 1993.It seems that the hut was destroyed by a fire when it was still in use and the roof and walls, that were made with straw and clay, that collapsed, sealed all the objects inside it among which two vases and a brazier. What was found will be exposed in the protohistoric section of the Roman National Museum. The original hut, due to its fragility, was filled up with earth, indicating on the surface the places where the holes of the poles were. In the park where it was found, a similar hut was rebuilt using the same shape and materials as the ancient one.
