Description
Music in Bernini's Rome
In the heart of Baroque Rome
In the heart of Baroque Rome, Architecture, Music and Art meet each other to create an enthralling combination.
The church was built in 17th century. It is considered the jewel of Baroque architecture, and was designed by the major architects of that time: Rainaldi, Borromini and Bernini, who was also the designer of the notable Fountain of the Four Rivers, located in front of the church.
The church has been recently restored, and it hosts the MUSIC IN BERNINI’S ROME Itinerary.
The itinerary
The Itinerary will make you admire the numerous masterpieces of the site: the architecture of the church itself, Bernini’s sculptures, the frescoed tambour. A live music performance will take place with pieces from the greatest composers of that time: Girolamo Frescobaldi, Claudio Monteverdi, Giulio Caccini, Lelio Colista, Andrea Falconiero…
The musicians will perform using the same musical instruments of the Baroque age. This, together with the singing and the studied sound ambience, will make you immerse yourself in the artistic climate of a unique era, fulfilling the sight of the superb works of art with the pleasure springing from music.
