Description

Will be holding an exhibition with six masterpieces by Lotto, Savoldo and Cariani from the Metropolitan Museum, New York, the Louvre, Paris, the Prado, Madrid, and the Accademia Carrara di Bergamo.

The history, fortune, and wealth of Venice and her dominions have long been tinted red. The paintings on show draw attention to the key role played by the Queen of the Seas on the mainland.

The exhibition is also an important occasion for lovers of Lorenzo Lotto: for the first time in Rome visitors can admire his two versions of the Mystic Marriage of St Catherine (the one from the Accademia Carrara and one belonging to the Museum) along with the Portrait of Marsilio Cassotti and Faustina Assonica, a painting that the Museo Nacional del Prado only lends in exceptional circumstances.
