Description

Promoted by the Fondazione Nadir Afonso, the exhibition presents the work of a leading Portuguese artists of the twentieth century.

Architect, painter and collector, the exhibition in Rome focuses on the activity as a collector of Nadir Afonso, also exhibiting the works of his friends with whom he worked, such as Pablo Picasso, Max Ernst, Candido Portinari, Giorgio de Chirico, Max Jacob, Fernand Leger. Being a firend of artists, the Afonso exhibition reconstructs a historical period of the late twentieth century, when the confluence of artistic and intellectual movements generated a renewal in art.

The exhibition that pays tribute to the artist, his work and his friendships, is the work of two years ago of the Foundation, established by the artist himself, to celebrate his 90 years with a series of international exhibitions . After Paris, Rio de Janeiro and Lisbon, now Rome and then Venice, where the second Italian exhibition will take place, at the Venice Architecture Biennale, highlighting the figure of Nadir Afonso as an architect and artist, and his collaboration with two great architects: Le Corbusier and Oscar Niemeyer.
In collaboration with the Portuguese Republic and the Foundation Nadir Afonso.
