The exhibition organised by Valentina Valentini is divided into two spaces, Palazzo delle Esposizioni and Galleria d'Arte Moderna.

The subject of the exhibition is the production of video art and artists' cinema in Italy from the late 1960s to the new century. Italy was the promoter of exemplary and pioneering initiatives and represents an artistic and cultural reference point for video experimentation in terms of variety, quality and international scope.

On show are 20 installations plus over 300 works collected in dedicated exhibitions, for over 80 hours of projection. The exhibition itinerary winds its way through the multiple variety of exhibition formats: single-channel video, video installations, multimedia, interactive, and of apparatuses aimed at retracing the production and historical process of the works.
Overall, the project involves more than 100 artists who, over the last sixty years, have used the electronic and digital device, in its many forms, as a privileged medium for research and audio-visual experimentation.

The Galleria d'Arte Moderna exhibits both installations and single-channel works from centres of production and dissemination of video art, active in Italy since the 1960s, with a strong international vocation.

Among the artists displayed: Umberto Bignardi, Daniel Buren, Fabio Massimo Iaquone, Masbedo, Fabio Mauri, Fabrizio Plessi, Cosimo Terlizzi, Franco Vaccari, Bill Viola

At the Palazzo delle Esposizioni, the transformations of the installation format in its dialogue with space and technological devices are highlighted, in a chronological span from the late 1960s to the 21st century.
The project is promoted by the Ministero della Cultura – Direzione generale Creatività Contemporanea, Roma Culture - Sovrintendenza Capitolina ai Beni Culturali  and Azienda Speciale Palaexpo.

Under the patronage of Sapienza University of Rome, La Camera Ottica lab - University of Udine and University of Milan Bicocca. In collaboration with AAMOD | Fondazione Archivio Audiovisivo del Movimento Operaio e Democratico, Fondazione La Biennale di Venezia | ASAC - Archivio Storico delle Arti Contemporanee, Cineteca Nazionale | Fondazione Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia, Lo schermo dell'arte | festival of cinema and contemporary art, RAI Teche, Riccione Teatro.
