Description

TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED

The exhibition illustrates the figure of Comenius in its historical context through a selection of about 60 works, including writings, prints, Editorial works, maps and audiovisual projections, containing his most relevant theses on humanity and knowledge.

The personal experience of persecution, exile and war led Comenius to reflect on the futility of human action, which led him to compare the world to a large and chaotic labyrinth, where man seeks light. Comenius argued that the improvement of humanity and the rebirth of a society founded on peace could be achieved through the universal dissemination of knowledge.
In the educational field he introduced the practice of natural education with a gradual educational path: in his vision "all life is school" and the child learns better while having fun. Comenius's pedagogical principles are still very current and in the European context he can be considered the first pedagogist in the history of modern education.
