Description

Giulio Turcato; Piero Dorazio; Toti Scialoja; Achille Perilli; Antonio Corpora; Giuseppe Uncini
This exhibition forms the occasion to entirely acquaint the public with the core works by some of those artists the Galleria nazionale d'arte moderna usually displays in its permanent collection but of which it also holds a larger series of artworks, representing on the whole the entire space of their artistic production. Such artworks, though, owing to matters of balance in the museum's collection as well as to educational, critical and philological priorities did not easily find room in the various arrangements following one other at different times.
Besides, on this occasion it will also be possible to see, next to those paintings and sculptures being the most known part of these artists' production, also such objects as tapestries, jewels, drawings or prints, thus completing the knowledge of their commitment to the various fields of creativity and documenting their different artistic stages, the numerous expressive interests and the genres and issues dealt with throughout their life.
Every group of works, arranged and presented as a circumscribed retrospective, not exhaustive but emblematic so to let the artist be understood, on the one hand reconstructs a synthesis of the artists' whole career, while on the other hand the history of the choices affecting the museum's collections made by the Galleria's different directors.
For that purpose, the exhibition will be provided with explanatory panels guiding visitors through the history of the museum's acquisitions and documenting the occasions, contexts and relationship networks justifying and giving rise to the collection's present consistency. In this way the public will be put in the know of the history of the acquisitions and donations from which originated the different cores of artworks displayed.
