Description
Evening visit to the Underground and the Arena of the Colosseum
The novelty of this year is the multimedia painting of the city of Jerusalem.
The itinerary goes through the maze of tunnels and passages where preparations for the shows took place, where stage materials were stored, and where the beasts, locked in cages, were then loaded onto elevators to reach the arena floor for the venationes, the bloody hunting scenes. The arena was also the scene of the munera, a kind of shows during which gladiators faced each other. Crossing a footbridge of more than 170 meters long, the bowels of the monument will no longer hold any secrets and, as night falls, you will be able to fully relive the atmosphere that enveloped those spaces.
Included in the tour, there is, for the first time, a multimedia reading of the painting depicting an ideal - bird's-eye view - of the city of Jerusalem, placed on the bottom arch of the Triumphal Gate: the same through which gladiators and beasts fought on the arena.
