La Festa di Roma 2018 is a large, free collective “party”, with an international cast that for 24 hours non-stop will accompany citizens and tourists of all ages in their New Year celebrations. The event offers a bumper programme involving 1000 artists from all over the world and over 100 performances, including theatre, live music, cinema, dance and circus performances, all accompanied by light installations, video mapping projections and impressive sets created by the Teatro dell'Opera, giving the city an amazing new look.

31st December 2017
The festivities start at 9.30 pm on the 31st of December 2017, at the Circus Maximus, with the grand international event 201∞ ROMA ILLUMINA L’INFINITO. Stars on the stage include the artists of La Fura dels Baus, a giant self-propelled mythological puppet, DJs from Dimensione Suono Roma and many other surprise musical performances and guests. Organised by Luca Ossicini, Maria Cristina Cecilia and Stefano Mannucci.

1st January 2018
La Festa di Roma then continues non-stop from the early hours of the morning until the evening of the 1st of January 2018, with performances, shows and events in the pedestrian area between Piazza dell’Emporio and Ponte Garibaldi, and the area between the Circus Maximus and Piazza della Bocca della Verità, the Orange Garden (Savello Park), the Teatro India, Ponte della Scienza, the Cinema Reale and the Central Children’s Library. Awaiting dawn: January 1st from 3 to 7 am. A procession of stilt walking musicians will take us through to dawn, starting at the Teatro India and ending at the Ponte della Scienza where, at 7 am, Danilo Rea will greet the sun with a solo piano performance.

New Year for Children: January 1st 10 am – 4 pm
From 10 am to 4 pm there is a bumper programme dedicated to children and families. A series of activities for children will start at 10 am in the Orange Garden (Savello Park): the Children’s Choir and Wind Ensemble of the National Academy of Santa Cecilia’s JuniOrchestra, performing traditional instrumental choir pieces; fairy tales on the table presented by the Teatro delle Apparizioni, brought to life with objects, sounds, stories and "imagination"; musical fairy tales, narrated and set to live music, curated by the Teatro Oltre Cultural Association, and two gazebos with art workshops organised by the Palazzo delle Esposizioni:  "Body-Dance-Movement" and "Mangasia - Manga Avalanche", based on the Asian comic and its graphic characteristics.
During the same time slot, the Central Children’s Library will open the doors to its rooms on the ground floor, the Botteghe, and will bring the forecourt to life with activities to promote reading and games for children and families.
