CHINESE NEW YEAR'S EVE: CELEBRATIONS IN ROME
The "Chinese New Year's eve", also known as "Lunar New Year's eve" or “Spring Festival”, is the most important and the most cherished Chinese tradition’s celebration. It comes from the sacrifice to the gods and the forefathers that people used to make at the end of the year, during Yin e Shang dynasty, more than 4.000 years ago. According to the tradition people dress up with a lot of red colour clothes, the good luck colour, and hang trinkets and lanterns upon their house’s doors. The Chinese calendar is a Lunisolar Calendar. Months start at each new moon making the first day of the first month vary of about 29 days, as well as the New Year's eve’s date. This year the "Chinese New Year's eve" will be on 28th January. Each year is linked to an animal sigh following periods of 12 years. 2017 will be the year of the Rooster.
