Description

Starting  from JUNE 8th until JULY 9th 2011, Wednesday to Saturday, the night events “REMEMBER PAVAROTTI” will take place in one of the most glamorous and exclusive location in Rome: the Sala del Coro  (100 seats) of Auditorium della Conciliazione, in the  heart of the capital, midway between Basilica San Pietro  and Castel Sant’Angelo.

It is an initiative which first of all aims at offering a tribute, a cue to remember a great man and an artist who marked the history of music. Moreover, the purpose of this event is to give a chance to the young artists to be known and listened to:  Luciano Pavarotti often asserted the young artists need a stage, an opportunity.

The nights will start at 7.30 p.m. with a  visit to the exhibition “REMEMBER PAVAROTTI”, a trip inside the great Tenor’s public and private memories who, in his 40 years of career, through his voice, his charisma and his talent, was reason of pride for all the Italians.
Among the precious objects exhibited, we signal photos and  videos of his long career, of his main concerts (Hyde Park, Central Park, Pavarotti & Friends) , private letters of famous people, prestigious awards and acknowledgements (among which 5 Grammies, 2 Emmies, 1 Kennedy Special Award, gold and platinum records), stage costumes, original musical scores.

At 8.00 p.m. the concert  “A NIGHT AT THE OPERA” will start: a cast of international-wide  singers and musicians   selected by  the Pavarotti Foundation  under the artistic direction of  Nicoletta Mantovani. Each night a soprano and a tenor will accompany us along an emotional path through the major operas famous arias which have made Italy well-known as the country of  “Belcanto” all over the world.
The performers: the soprano  Pervin Chakar  and  the tenor Alessandro Scotto di Luzio together with the Maestro Fabio Montani at the piano;  the soprano Francesca Cappelletti  and the tenor Domenico Tegliafilo with the Maestro Fabio Centanni at the piano.

At the end of the concert, at 9.15 p.m., it is time for ”THE  BELPAESE FLAVOURS”: an Italian gastronomic  specialities buffet coupled with the best cellars wines.

The  Luciano Pavarotti Foundation  was founded by  Nicoletta Mantovani with the dual purpose of keeping alive Maestro Pavarotti's memory as well as  helping the young  to enter the opera and find opportunities to be listened to and known.
The young singers are the core activity of the Foundation. Maestro Pavarotti taught free lessons to a lot of pupils he considered bright. He loved teaching; many people  know he, before taking up a career as a tenor, he used to teach in the Primary School. When he was young, he used to say if he had not succeeded in music, he would have loved to go back teaching. Many years later, when he was still busy with his long and glorious career as a tenor, he was very pleased to start again giving lessons to his pupils: he stated sharing his experience and passion with young talents was his way to thank for the great gift he had received: his voice. It was, also, a way to immortalize his visceral love for music, by transmitting it to other people.

Maestro Pavarotti never forgot his starting out and how long he was unsure about undertaking the opera career, an impervious road and often uphill. Remembering such difficulties, he always tried to support the young by offering them visibility and, often, the possibility to share the stage with him.
The Foundation is continuing the Maestro’s activity trying to offer new chances to the young talent who wish to take up the difficult and extraordinary career as opera singers.
