La giovane Heli abita da sola con la sorella Gaby, portatrice di handicap, in uno squallido appartamento di un quartiere periferico di Haifa. Quando si scopre che Heli lascia Gaby sola per ore, per andare a lavoro, interviene l’assistente sociale, così la giovane donna è costretta a mettere sua sorella in un istituto durante il giorno. Questo evento permette al giovane Zohar di entrare nella vita di Heli. Così viene a crearsi un triangolo umano dove si consumano i confini tra amore, sacrificio, nutrimento e tortura.
Opera prima di Asaf Korman in cui il regista racconta in modo intenso e naturalistico una storia sorprendente, ispirata all’esperienza di sua moglie Liron Ben Shlush, che ha scritto la sceneggiatura e interpreta il personaggio principale.
Il film è stato presentato in anteprima internazionale al Festival di Cannes, e poi ai Festival internazionali di Karlovy Vary, Chicago, Montreal e Pusan. Per il ruolo di Gaby, Dana Ivgy si è aggiudicata il premio Ophir 2014 come migliore attrice non protagonista.
Young Heli lives alone with her sister Gaby, who has mental problems, in a squalid flat in a suburb of Haifa. When a social worker discovers that Heli leaves Gaby alone in the house for hours, to go to work, the young woman is forced to put her sister in a day-care centre. This creates room for young Zohar to come into Heli’s life. The three of them will be forced into a twisted relationship, where boundaries between love, sacrifice, nurturing and torturing - are broken.
Asaf Korman’s first film uses an intense and naturalistic style to tell this surprising story, inspired by the experience of his wife, Liron Ben Shlush, who wrote the screenplay and plays the main character in the film.
The picture was presented as an international premiere at the Cannes Film Festival followed by screenings at Karlovy Vary, Chicago, Montreal and Pusan festivals. In addition, Dana Ivgy won the Israeli Film Academy’s 2014 Ophir award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance as Gaby.
