The construction dates back to the 1950s. It was inaugurated in 1956 with a theatrical performance full of 'special effects' with coloured backdrops and lights, myriads of bright stars, coloured clouds... all controlled by an 18-channel mechanical intensity controller.

The Sunday cinema screenings for the children of the oratory began immediately. Only the opening to the public was missing.

In February 1963 the first screening was opened to the public. It was immediately a success with the public, both because of the programming and the cost of the tickets. From the Sunday programme, films were shown up to four times a week.

In the 1970s, with the crisis of the cinema, like all theatres, the "Don Bosco" theatre was closed for a few years. It resumed its activity in 1986, first with the collaboration of the CGS and then of voluntary friends. After 40 years of activity, the structure needed a radical renovation, which was completed between 1988 and 1989. Since then, the cinema and theatre activities have not stopped, and the number of initiatives, attendance and sympathy for the welcoming building has increased.
