Description

SANT'AGATA IN TRASTEVERE The church owes its actual aspect to the works in 1671 immediately suspended, and to those in 1710 completed by architectGiacomo Recalcati. Already existing in the first half of C.XII, it was widely restored with the passing of years. Its façade is characterized by a light overhang and the insertion of elements typical of Borromini. The interior treasures the venerable wooden statue of the Madonna del Carmine, which is the starting point for the Festa de' Noantri, local feast occuring in the month of July. It is also called Sant'Agata "Ad Colle Iacentes", since it used to be at the bottom of the Colli Gianicolensi.
