Description
S. NICOLA DEI PREFETTI One canfind testimony about it in a papal bull by Urbano II around the end of C. XIwhile the title S. Nicolao Praefecti is reported in Cencio Savelli’s cataloguein 1192. In 1567 Pio V conceded it to the Padri Domenicani di S. Sabina.In 1674 the facade wasrebuilt, while the church was reconstructed in 1729. The façade embodies a single order. In themiddle one finds a little portal with three windows by the sides. The interior, with a single nave, presents abarrel roofing that was frescoed by Giacomo Triga during C. XVIII. On the highaltar one can admire the “Mater Misericordiae”, the miraculous painting that,according to some legends, moved its eyes in 1796.
