S. MARONE Around the late 1800s the Maronites, alreadypresent in Rome during C. XVI, started to build a hospice for poor pilgrims anda church dedicated to San Marone, a monk that died during C.V, in the Ludovisidistrict. The construction works, which started in 1886, were completed via aproject by Andrea Busiri Vici (1818-1911) in 1891, while the hospice wascarried out by Carlo’s (1856-1925) son. The church is officiated inAramaic. The facade includes two orders. The first oneembodies a small vestibule with a rounded arch. In the middle it opens up withthe entry portal surmounted by a rose window. In the upper part one finds athree-light window with small columns, sided by two framed windows. The interior, with a single nave and restoredin 1936, does not embody any decoration with particular historically artisticimportance.
