Description
Its date of foundation supposedly dates back to the second half of C.VI. The name probably derives from the vicinity to the district defined "piscina", since the fish market was located nearby. It was totally rebuilt by the Cesi family in Baroque forms in 1659 and later on restored under the papacy of Clemente XII in the first half of C.XVIII. Upon the construction of Via della Conciliazione in the middle of C.XX, the church was hidden by the buildings and then deconsecrated and turned into a warehouse. Further restoration managed to reveal its original Romanesque shapes. The façade, completed by a Romanesque bell-tower dated C.XII, still embodies part of the original masonry. The interior has three naves divided up by eleven columns. At the end of the middle nave one finds the access to the inner courtyard.
