Description

It dates back to the early X century, but was rebuilt by Angelo Torriani in 1624, then completely restored in 1837 by Virginio Vespignani. The last restyling was made in 1983. The facade is divided into three parts by pilaster strips of the same height and is completed by a triangular gable. The interior has a single nave and on the high altar there is Baldassare Croce’s altarpiece depicting St John Baptist. At the beginning of the nave there are the fourteenth- century tombs of Nicola and Giuliano Porcari with decorated mosaics and on the pediment a “Pietà” by Luigi Garzi.
