Description
The episcopal (anglican) American church is the first non-Catholic temple welcomed in Rome and represents a unique testimony in Italy for the English artistic movement "Arts and Crafts", besides being the most interesting carrying out of sacred art in Rome from the late 1800s. The building, wanted by Reverend Robert J. Nevin, is based on a project by George Edmund Street who remarkably put an effort at attributing the church Italian traits on the massive Romanesque-Gothic masonry in travertine layers and red bricks along with a bell-tower with mullioned and three-mullioned windows. Around the rose window and the portal one finds mosaics by George Breck.
