Technotown, host in Villa Torlonia since 2006, is characterized by the xxth century architecture. It is an update centre in the italian “edutainment” projects  scenary. A centre for children from 4 years on, promoted by the “Assessorato alle Politiche educative e scolastiche”, Formation, Youth, and developpement of the suburbs with the collaboration of Fondazione Roma. It is part of the project “A town for children” promoted by the Assessorato alla cultura e allo sport”. It is directed by Zètema Progetto Cultura. Moving through the 9 rooms of the building, young people will learn to intercat with some advanced technologies trough games and experiences with a high educational content, among tridimensional projections, virtual and interactive realities.
The new CyberPlant is a space dedicated to nature and biodiversity, with three key words: eco-compatibility, creativity, interactivity.

Sensor Robots and radiations
From  the mechanical arm to the Lego Mindstorm programable robots, until reaching the sensitive  mats to discover how to know,how  to use and to better enjoy the different types of sensors.

The tridimensional world
From the tridimensional world to the construction of the tridimensional objects we can  browse togheter in the world of the new technologies for the creation of all types of instruments.

Special effects
A way to discover togheter the realization of special effects in the cinema, how it is possible to disappear and how to fly and much more in our virtual set

Robotic Missions
By the programmation of small robot to the creation of comlex movements and interactions through our LEGO Mindstorm, we will learn togheter to programme in a simple and intuitive way.

Optical illusions
(from 8 years on)
What is an optical illusion? Which are the optical illusions we find during our daily experience? Which are the characteristics of these subjects? These are only some of the questions to give an answer. Sorrounded by many    images we can work in small groups, and we can experiment on a computer the unmasking of an impossibile optical illusion and we realize another a very special one. Don’t forget your usb pen and each time you want you can appreciate your piece of art and show it to your friends.

Digital comics
(from 8 years on)
Starting from the creation of a story board and up to the lay out, this activity will show how to make a comics with COMIC LIFE. Divided into groups, children will create their own cartoons using some printed scenaries and some characters. They will put togheter their scenes as if they were in a theatre, changing each time their backdrops and their elements in space and and they will photograph them. Later all their photos will be transferred in the programme and completed with ballon, commentaries and onomatopoeias. At the end the several groups will print their cartoons taking home their creations.

Here it is possible to use technology telling stories, comparing and testing ourselves. An opportunity to test the radio, loved by young people. We will use an audio editor to record the sounds and the voices. Each one will choose from a set of information, the piece he wants to write and he will create his own news to broadcast.

Stop motion
(from 10 years on)
Among the various activities we have the opening of Cinecittà and the boom of “CINEMA”, the LEGO stopmotion activities introduced in Robotics for Pediatrics among which also the Stop Motion. It is activity it is possible to arrange it according to the events and the festivities; and to project it as if you were in a real cinema; you also have the posibility to bring it home by using a pen drive.

Sound effects
(from 10 years on)
During this activity children will have the opportunity to discover how to realize the sound effects of the films. The will interact and will take part to the sonorization of the of some scenes taken from the film and the 3d animations using some unconventional instruments!

From the tridimensional vision to the construction of the 3 dimension objects we will explore the  world of  new technologies for the creation of all types of instruments.

Using our LEGO  WEDO kits we can learn how to build and how to programme small robots.

You can discover 4 rooms (Flipball, Digital Floor-Adventures in 3D-Sculptorobot) with a special visit organized by the staff.
You will be offered a polystyrene sculpture of the guest of honour (n.b. in case the guests of honour are more than two people, for logistic and organizative reasons we can only give you two masks), you can challenge your friends at Flipball.
