Opening times

Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The ticket office closes half an hour before.
Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays closed.
On Saturdays, Sundays and holidays there is an official to welcome visitors to the Museum of Civilizations.
10.30am-11.30am and 4pm - 5pm, appointment at the Museum ticket office.
The first Sunday of the month free entry is suspended until further use of the MiBACT

The Museum of the Early Middle Ages keeps several archaeological materials that can be dated back between the sixth and thirteenth century AD. A golden fibula found on the Palatine (fourth-sixth century) is a significant finding of the late-ancient period, while funerary trousseaus coming from the Longobard necropolises of Nocera Umbra and Castel Trosino date back to the sixth-seventh century. An excellent example of sculpture of the early Middle Ages by Roman artists is instead represented by the ceramics and the ruins of a marble finishing coming from the Santa Cornelia complex near Rome. A section of the museum exhibits also a collection of (fifth-seventh and ninth-tenth century) fabrics that belonged to funerary trousseaus and religious and parade furnishings of Coptic-Christian Egypt.
