Description
The Parisian Museum is above all a museum of printed paper and of vintage illustrations from 1850 to 1950. It collects, posters, prints, drawings, watercolors, chromo lithographs, illustrated tables, scores, magazines and illustrated books, advertisement picture-cards, post-cards, decorated fans, toys, as well as magic lanterns, records, gramophones, and other objects dedicated to the Parisian culture between the nineteenth and the twentieth century. Exhibitions on a theme are periodically organized on the various cultural and artistic aspects of the city of Paris: the theatre and show business, cinema, classical music, dances, literature, fashion and costume, art, and architecture. The Museum, in addition to iconographic collections, also owns an antique and modern library dedicated to the eighteenth-nineteenth century Parisian culture and a Fund of about 3,000 photographs dedicated to aspects and artists of the French culture. It is also twinned with the Musée de Montmartre in Paris.
