Description
Founded in 1889, the museum conserves the most important archaeological collection in the world. At the moment the collection consists of different museums that collect the materials according to origin, nature and collection.
- Palazzo Altemps, 15th century palace, it houses the collections of ancient statues of important Roman families like Boncompagni, Ludovisi and Altemps.
- Terme di Diocleziano, houses a vast epigraphic section showing the birth of Latin and introducing to the protohistory of Rome.
- Crypta Balbi tells about the changes that a particular town area has undergone from the Roman age to the Middle ages.
