Description

Housed inside the San Pancrazio gateway in the Janiculum walls, the museum contains two collections documenting the historical continuity of the Risorgimento (the wars for the unification of Italy) with the Italian resistance of World War II. Besides the many relics of Giuseppe Garibaldi, of his wife Anita and of their children, there are also testimonies of the Italian soldiers of the Venezia and Taurinese divisions who, being in Yugoslavia at the time the armistice with the Allied forces was declared on 8 September 1943, did not surrender to the German troops there but created the “Divisione Italiana Partigiana Garibaldi”.
