Opening times

Every first Sunday of the month, free admission to civic museum for all residents in Rome and the Metropolitan City area (in both cases by showing a valid document proving their residence).

Description

Summary of regulations that govern entry to museums and archaeological sites
FREE ADMISSION

Free admission (for which a special free ticket is issued), except for the Ara Pacis new exhibition space, in application of the exemptions provided for by current legislation:

1. to residents in Rome and in the Metropolitan City on the first Sunday of each month;
2. to residents in the city of Rome under 18, except for the shows held at the Planetarium of Rome;
3. to residents in the city of Rome with an income below € 15,000.00, upon presentation of the certificate ISEE;
4. to all children under 6 years of age;
5. to EU tourist guides on production of a valid permit issued by the relevant authority;
6. to EU tourist interpreters when their assistance is required alongside the guide, on production of a valid permit issued by the relevant authority;
7. to ICOM (International Council of Museums), ICOMOS (International Council on Monument and Sites) members, foreign and Italian cultural institutes (such as the Lincei Academy, the Institute of Roman Studies, the Friends of the Museums of Rome, ICCROM, the Central Institute of Restoration) members, except for the shows held at the Planetarium of Rome
8. for study or research reasons, certified by Italian or foreign schools or universities, academies, research and cultural institutes , departments of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities or other offices of Rome City Administration, except for the shows held at the Planetarium of Rome
9. to all visitors during Week of Culture and the anniversary of Rome’s foundation (Natale di Roma), except for the shows held at the Planetarium of Rome
10. to all visitors in occasion of cultural events in Rome, organized by the City Administration or under an European directive or Ministerial initiative
11. to school groups accompanied by their teachers with a list agreed by the head of the institution, except for the shows held at the Planetarium of Rome
12. to EU teachers and students of Architecture, Conservation of Cultural Heritage, Educational Science and degree courses in literature or literary subjects specializing in archaeological or art history in philosophy and letters faculties. Free admission is granted to students when showing a valid certificate of registration for the current academic year, except for the shows held at the Planetarium of Rome
13. to EU teachers and students of Fine Arts Academies or corresponding institutions. Free admission is granted to students when showing a valid certificate of registration for the current academic year, except for the shows held at the Planetarium of Rome
14. to Roma Pass holders, when visiting the first 2 museums and/or archaeological sites
15. to students holding a “Student Card” issued by the Provincial Board of the Students of Rome, except for the shows held at the Planetarium of Rome
16. to the citizens of Paris, in accordance with reciprocal agreement made when Rome and Paris were twinned, except for the shows held at the Planetarium of Rome
17. to prominent guests of the City of Rome Administration during special events;
18. to visitors with disabilities and a family member or a carer who can prove that they belong to social and health care services ;
19. to blood donors and a companion during the Summer Blood Donation Campaign (1 July 2014 – 15 October 2014), presenting a thank you letter (for the bloodletting) issued by the Municipality of Rome. except for the shows held at the Planetarium of Rome;
20. to employees of the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage of the City of Rome, as well as to archaeologists, art historians and architects of the Archaeological Superintendence of Rome, the Superintendence of Monuments of Rome, Rome Museum Complex, requiring access for study or research reasons, upon presentation of their personal badge;
21. to journalists upon presentation of suitable proof of professional activity;
22. to all visitors for the European Heritage Days, except for the shows held at the Planetarium of Rome;
23. to to national and international groups of Institutions, Associations and Companies that organize events that take place in the city of Rome sponsored by the Administration, or that collect and distribute donations to the historical and artistic heritage of Roma Capitale requested and authorized by the Sovrintendenza Capitolina;
24. group family rate - to groups formed by 1 parent with 1 or 2 children under the age of 18 years - one full price admission.

CONCESSIONS
Concessionary fares (for which will be issued a concessionary ticket), are available in all museums and archaeological sites with the exception for the shows held at the Planetarium of Rome and for the Ara Pacis new exhibition space, for:

1.  visitors aged between 6 and 25
2.  residents in the city of Rome aged between the age of 18 and 25 years;
3. Italian teachers with permanent contracts;
4. Bibliocard holders when showing the Bibiocard;
5. for promotional initiatives, aimed at tourist, cultural and sport promotion;
6. ATAC and Metrebus annual pass holders;
7. Roma Pass holders, when visiting the third museums and/or archaeological sites onwards.
