Description

Built by Giacomo Boni in 1897 at the behest of Baron Alberto Blanc, the villa marks a moment of great interest in the history of architecture and the decorative arts in Rome at the end of the 19th century.

The pictorial and sculptural decoration of the Villa is a unique example of Roman architectural and decorative culture, whose eclectic language was partly surpassed and partly reworked with great freedom, including the use and combination of new materials such as iron, glass and ceramics.

The construction of the main building was entrusted to the engineer Francesco Mora, who assembled various parts of the building in a scheme that was completely free from the forms of a traditional planimetric layout, just as the elevation solution is free, resulting in an anthology of forms and materials drawn from a repertoire ranging from the medieval brick facings of the tower to the Art Nouveau designs of the glazed ceramics of the loggia.

Having fallen into a state of neglect in the 1980s, the villa was purchased in 1997 by LUISS University, which began its recovery and restoration.
