Description

The panoramic roof is located at the top of the monumento a Vittorio Emmanuele II. It starts with the spectacular elevated lift. In the space of a minute, the lifts, almost suspended in the air, go above the profile of the Basilica of Santa Maria in Aracoeli and offer a first view of the Colosseo and the Fori Imperiali. When they reach their final destination, at an altitude of seventy metres, visitors can enjoy a 360° view of the whole of Rome. Giuseppe Sacconi, the architect of the Vittoriano, wanted to create a space here, a location that would be one of the most spectacular in the world. At the exit of the lifts, the visitor is received by two impressive bronze chariots. They are visible from all parts of the city and can finally be appreciated in detail: they recall the Italian Union and Freedom, the two founding values of the monument.

But it is the view in particular that leaves you breathless. No other place in Rome is more central, elevated or spectacular.

Two panoramic lifts in crystal clear glass leading to the Terrazza delle Quadrighe.

The lifts start from the Terrazza mediana, located on the level of the Colonnato, which is reached either

- from Piazza Venezia (main entrance to the monument)

- from the left side entrance (Via di San Pietro in Carcere)

- from the right side entrance (Via del Teatro di Marcello, lato Aracoeli).

For the disabled and their assistants, the entrance is from the right-hand side of the monument (Via del Teatro di Marcello) where there is a service lift leading to the Terrazza Mediana.
