Description
The Ostia Antica Archaeological Park is an Institute of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism and belongs to the General Directorate for Museums. It has special autonomy and exercises its competences in the field of protection, conservation and public use.
Established in 2016 to manage, protect and enhance an area extending between the 10th Municipality of Rome and the Municipality of Fiumicino, the Park coordinates a system of cultural attractions, included in one of the largest archaeological areas in the Mediterranean basin (150 ha).
It includes
- the Archaeological Area of Ostia Antica and the Ostiense Museum
- the Imperial Ports of Claudius and Trajan
- the Necropolis of Porto on Isola Sacra
