Description
In 1916, at the crossing point of via Statilia some Republican Sepulchres had been found dated back to 100 BC circa and buried during the following century. The most ancient one consists of a facade made of blocks of tuff in which there is a central door, sided by two round shields obtained by the blocks of the facade. The small funerary room, partly cut in the rock, is covered by an irregular vault in "opus Cementicium", storied with the names of the owners.The other adjacent sepulchres and the columbarium are more recent (beginning of first century BC). The whole group is interesting: it is easy to follow the passage from the typology of the room tomb to the one of the isolated monument.
